WELCOME!
Welcome to Elgin Area Camera Club! We’re a group of photography enthusiasts in Elgin and the surrounding community. We meet twice a month from September through May for club meetings and have outside photo events throughout the year. We’d love for you to attend one (or many!) of our meetings!
Our club meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday in the basement conference room at St Joseph’s Hospital in Elgin. All are welcome to visit to any meeting no matter of your skill or experience with photography.
What are the meetings like?
During our meeting on the second Tuesday of each month, we have a photography presentation by various skilled presenters. This year’s topics include Still Life Photography, Low-Light Photography, and How and Why to Edit a Photo. EACC club members can attend any of the presentations for free, and non-members only pay a small fee (usually $3) to attend each month.
On the fourth Tuesday of each month, we host a CACCA photo competition for our club members, but all are welcome to attend, observe, and ask questions for free. Judges rate our photography and provide feedback on prints and digital images. Elgin Area Camera Club is a member of CACCA, the Chicago Area Camera Club Association, and our best images are sent monthly to compete in the Chicago area CACCA competition.
What is the cost to be a member?
Membership is $30. You have to pay the membership to compete in the monthly photo competition. Non member program night fees vary each time. The year end pizza party is included in your $30 membership fee. This fee is typically due at the first meeting in September. You can pay it the first meeting you decide you want to become a member.
What is CACCA?
In addition to the 35 Chicago area camera clubs like Elgin Area Camera Club, CACCA offers monthly program meetings on areas of photographic interest as well as competitions both for individual members and member clubs.
